Another breath-taking game from the Dragon Ball video game franchise, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (Xbox One) definitely receives a thumbs up. Amazing visuals, a fun game play and just so much freedom. With the success of the Dragon Ball Super series, it has really revitalised the franchise. With new games, DLCs and even a rumoured new season of DBS. This game takes a leaf out of its predecessors following the original DBZ story line, but with a fresh twist!

Following the trend of the most recent Dragon Ball games, and even a taster in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie. We are seeing more and more 2.5D in games and we here at the club love it. It is the best way to keep it from crossing the line into full 3D like the old games. It takes the soul out of the characters, which Akira Toriyama and the rest put their hearts and souls into when creating the manga and anime.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (Xbox One) initially released on January 2020 and was developed by BANDAI NAMCO & CyberConnect2. Once again treating us to a new fighting system with an open world backdrop. Although the open-world-ness is a little limited it is still extremely fun to fly around by yourself or even on Nimbus. Factor in the amazing visuals and you really have a unique experience in this game, and that’s without mentioning the rest!

Story & Gameplay

One great aspect of this game is that you can pretty much go through all the story arcs within a day. They don’t force you to go through all the extra filler bits and is more streamlined. Keeping the fun going. The fighting is quite fun and gives the same feeling as when you watch Goku and the gang fighting it out in the anime.

At times the battles can be a little frustrating, especially against the tougher opponents. However, that is part and parcel of the fun and it really feels like the anime. We here at the club highly recommend you check it out! Click on the links to find out more.
