The first release of the amazing Budokai Tenkaichi video game series, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi. Compared to previous DBZ video games the fighting mechanics in this game is on a whole new level. Combining fighting and flying in a vast open setting, they said goodbye to the traditional fighting formats. Players are no longer on the opposite sides of the same screen battling it out for victory. Budokai Tenkaichi is possibly the only video game to have adopted this gameplay and it is spectacular. The fighting is very reminiscent of the anime series’.
That is why Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi stood out from the rest at the date of its release. We cannot forget to mention the games graphics, both character design and battling environments. Compared to its predecessors it feels like a big jump in visual quality, something fans and critics alike noticed.
The creators of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi did not stop there, as environments are more interactive than previous games. Battles stages include destructible terrain increasing the number of ways to fight in this game. Take the fight to the air, on the ground and even underwater! Fly around the battle stage, hunt your opponent and pulverise them, which looks even cooler with the behind-the-back camera angle.
Enjoy freedom like you have never done before in a fighting game as you fly through the sky. Take control of the franchises coolest and strongest characters as there are a tonne to choose from. With 58 playable characters and once you’ve included their transformations and fusions it takes that total to 90 playable characters. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi provides some of the most intense fights in the franchises video game history. Attacks and special attacks of 90 playable characters was an amazing feat for a PlayStation 2 game.
